RE: Dual Wheel Axles on a Fiver? Newmar?

Has anyone else seen these?
Are there any other companies making a dual wheel fiver?
If so, how long have they been on the market?
Yes I have seen one.
None that I know of.
Newmar is an old company, holding many patents. ( Since the 1960's)
Britt
PS, Below you are looking at a newmar Kountry Aire with 8 tires and wheels.
No axles. Ours, is a independent suspension. They do come standard with axles.

RE: Highest winds a Fiver can take?

To the Last Three posters.
First of all you must know what a Nor Easter is.
Second you must know what it takes to leave the Outer banks.
The weather forcast was for Fair skys. This Nor easter developed in a matter of a few hours and was in the month of June not even knowned for a Nor easter.
Have you ever heard of all of our Great heros that have been fishing for our food, that have lost their lives from a unexpected storm like this.
No weather forcaster new anything about it. This is not a hurricane that you can see for a week or 2 out...
Now look at your maps.
So you have wheels, only 2 ways to get out. You can go south to try to cross for a 2 hour ferry ride.
They shut down.
You can go North for a 2 hour drive.
Roads closed, bridge closed.
Tsk, tsk, tsk, on you for thinking that you can just pack up and move.
Now I ask the Mod's not to shut this thread down. I mean no I'll will towards any posters.
This Post here is ment to save someones life. There are times in our lifes when you have no way to out run a storm, and to imply here to all of our friends in the RV world that you can just pack up and move is very bad advise, and may cause someone to lose their life.
Lets be prepared for the worst, if you know a stom is comming, great lets leave. But if you are caught in a Storm lets be ready.
Hey, OP I can tell that you want to be ready for the worst. Very good post to find out about high winds. You are a wise person to know that some day you may have no choice but to be caught in high winds.
One thing I left out was about the side ways rain, it will come thru your fridge vents and your slides if open. That is one of the reasons that we shut our slides. Ther was also a prevost that had water comming in just like we did in the same spots.
Britt
PS. The Forcast was for Fair Skys.

RE: Highest winds a Fiver can take?

5 years ago we were on the Outerbanks of North Carolina.
The Grave Yard of the Atlantic.
On the Cape, hit by a Nor Easter, 90mph winds then tornado warnings went up.
Cedar Creek 5er, high profile, 4 slides, 15,500lbs, 40 feet.
Brought in all slides, wind hitting us broad side, all day long, sand balsted for 36 hours, no sleep.
It was a lot of fun ! rain never hit the ground, just side ways, we liked hugo better !
Do not look for high winds. If you have no choice
bring
in the slides and head into the wind.
Make sure you have a weather radio. Write your name on the side of the Rv so they can tell your next of kin.
Have fun!

RE: N.C. RV owners take note

3. Given the rampant, serious crime in NC -- illegals, drugs, murders, animal cruelty, spousal abuse -- it is hard to imagine law enforcement having a spare moment to mess with trival pursuits.
I thought Maggie Valley was a nice place!

RE: N.C. RV owners take note

I have been reading this post for a while.
I do have a question about the North Carolina law of a total of 60 feet in length.
We have several truck shipments that deliver to our business every week.
Many of the trailers are 53 feet in length with tractors that have sleepers. So their total length could be around 75 feet.
I know the law is listed at 60 feet for NC, just do not understand why no tractor trailers are pulled for being over 60.
What are your thoughts?
Britt
Edit for spelling!!

RE: My first Diesel - Newbee Question

My manual says to use the right side battery for jump starting. Never had to do it yet but have jump started other cars
hpk
You brought up a good point.
On my Dodge one ton with two batteries. I have to use two vehicles to jump start it. Thats right !
One vehicles battery will not even turn my diesel at all, or just very little.
So in the Dodge I carry two jumper cables.
I notice my Duramax only has one battery.

RE: XM Radio password reset request

I have had xm for 2 years. I did not even know I had a pass word!
If you haven't setup an Internet account with XM, then you don't have a password.;) I have never been asked to change my password from XM.
Ok, It looks like I need some help.
What do you do with a Internet account with XM?
My wife says, maybe you need it, to pay on line.
Is that why?
Thanks,,

RE: brakes on tow dollie

I see that our mod must not have liked my kidding about brakes and being blind folded.
Most states requir brakes and I think that it would be a rise choice on your tow dolly.
I think the surg system of brakes would be a good choice.
I do not know the size of your class A but if it is a small class A the brakes would be a great choice.
Mod, I think you should put the guys post back up, he does have a point in his post. And it should be allowed. He attacked no one.
I also ment no harm with my post, I thought it was funny...Trust Me.

PS, Perhaps I should have used smile faces. No harm ment. I know you have a hard job. : )

Hey, Randy.
I could not recall the Jacyo entry level unit.
I had gone to the Travel Supreme factory and liked their product. Too bad they are gone.

RE: Newmar Cypress?

I don't think I would consider any of those three "entry" level but more mid level.
Of the 3 listed.
Newmar. Which is Newmar's entry level fifth wheel?
Carriage. What is Carriage's entry level?
And Jayco. What is their entry level ?
Pehaps I gave bad info to the poster.
I had thought that Jayco Desiner was Jayco's top of the line.
I also thought that Cypress was Newmars entry level.
And thought that Cameo is the Carriage entry level.
I could be wrong, let me know.
Thanks, Britt

RE: Newmar Cypress?

I know the manufacturing guide lines for all three of these units.
Do not compare the Designer which is not a entry level like the Cameo and the Cypress.
The Designer is very pretty to look at on the inside.. and is a good coach.
If construction is important to you then you will want to consider the entry level Cypress or Cameo. I have been to both of these factories. I know how they are built.
Jayco is a very good coach but there is a construction difference. (I like Jayco), We almost bought one but went with a Cedar Creek 5er. (Forest River)
Take a look at the weight of each of these units same length. I know which one is the heavest. The reason is because of construction and not counter tops exct.
I hope this is of help. I have done my best to be fair and not say any thing bad about all 3.
Send me a PM if you want more info from me.
